Maria Lundesjö

Maria works within the Future Food program and at Torsåker Farm, Axfoundation's test farm and development center for the sustainable food system of the future.

Maria is originally a Food Agronomist, and she has also earned a PhD in Food Science from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). At SLU, Maria has also served as the study director for the Food Agronomy program and has since had a great interest in teaching and applying research results in practice.

Maria also has a background as a quality manager in the meat and charcuterie industry and has also worked as a sustainability manager in the fresh produce sector in the retail industry. There, she focused on applying quality and sustainability issues in the development of Private Label products.

In December 2019, Maria was elected as a member of the Agricultural Section of the Swedish Royal Academy of Agriculture and Forestry (KSLA), and since May 2023, she has been on the board of AgroÖst, a non-profit organization that promotes business development within the green sector in eastern Sweden.

In her spare time, Maria runs a farm with cattle production together with her parents on the family farm outside Heby.
