Corporations and Global Development – Jeffrey Sachs

Professor Jeffrey Sachs leads the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Sachs is Professor of Economics and leads the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York, USA. He is also special advisor to UN:s Secretary General. Sachs argues that corporations is core because they have technical solutions, knowledge, leadership and often a global presence. The need to quickly create solutions for a sustainable planet and way of life for people is pressing. Companies must be part of the bridge to create a truly sustainable world.

Jeffrey Sachs also led efforts to create and establish the UN’s eight Millennium Goals. Now Professor Sachs looks ahead and sees a clear need for fewer legal negotiations and more practical solutions to meet and manage the dramatic consequences of climate change that he believes we face. We met Professor Sachs during a visit to Stockholm.
