“A change is taking place in Pakistan” – Saira Akhtar

Saira Akhtar is Associate Professor in sociology at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in Pakistan. Her expertise lies within poverty alleviation and women empowerment. Saira is engaged in the Rice project initiated by Axfood and Axfoundation, aiming on empowering small holder farmers and women workers in basmati rice farming.

Oxfam and Doaba Foundation implements the project which is co-funded by Sida. This interview is made one year after the project started, Saira explains what it has contributed with so far. Filmed by Axfoundation 30 January 2018.
