The ReWaste (in Swedish ‘ReSvinn’) project identified obstacles and solutions for the redistribution of surplus food from stores and wholesalers to restaurants and schools – places that can take advantage of larger batches of food at short notice. Based on a number of pilot projects around Sweden, Axfoundation, together with partners, has explored how we can make it environmentally sustainable and profitable for society to make use of surplus food. The project contained several work streams and Axfoundation was mainly involved in the work regarding business modeling and communication. The project was run 2019-2021 by Chalmers Industriteknik, in collaboration with approximately 50 partners.
